Assessment activity 3 years showed that the public library system is developing on the basis of physical , technical , especially at commune level . Now there are 63 provincial libraries , 649 district libraries , 2,300 communal libraries and reading rooms in nearly 20,000 communes , wards , villages and hamlets … Besides, there are about 10,000 legal bookcase law , thousands of the reading room at the post office of the commune, ward or township … So far, over 3.8 million new additions to the list , bringing the total number of books in the library system of over 20 million copies . Library activities closely and effectively serve the political tasks of the country ‘s industry . In particular helped inspire reading culture among the people .
However, the current system of legal documents on the field missing . Many localities do not have the proper care of the library system investment . To date , there are still 10 provincial libraries based not independent . You read in the library are not . According to the Vietnam National Library , library patrons only about 8 to 10 % of the population , with about 30,000 regular readers to the library . While provincial libraries are only about 1,000 to 2,000 regular readers , cities , districts from 500 to 600 readers , communal room only read 100 to 200 readers.
At the conference , delegates heard presentations by some provinces to further clarify the role and importance as well as the inadequacies and shortcomings in the operation of the library system . Most conference participants agreed that public libraries have an important role in providing knowledge and education for small children . However, now with the growth of information technology , the majority of young people neglect of library bookshelves that look for the kind of books available on the internet , sometimes didactic . In fact in many places , people are turning to libraries to come up with other forms of entertainment, partly because the library has not changed the way it works . Current activities in the library just stop reading books, borrow books without any accompanying activities .
It is known that , in the period 2014 – 2015 , Ministry of Culture, will focus on eight key tasks , which include : improving the system of legal documents in the library sector , investment facilities and equipment be necessary for the library and enhance the application of information technology in managing library operations and improve services to users ; connect users with the services and products of the library .
