Switzerland donates CHF 50,000 for LDCs’ participation in Ministerial Conference
The government of Switzerland is contributing CHF 50,000 to support the participation of least-developed countries (LDCs) in the eleventh WTO Ministerial Conference (MC11), which will take place on 10-13 December 2017 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “Ensuring that least-developed countries can effectively participate in ministerial conferences is fundamental to building an inclusive trading system where all voices are heard and the benefits of trade can be more widely shared. I warmly welcome Switzerland’s contribution.”
Switzerland’s Ambassador, Didier Chambovey, said: “Switzerland is committed to an inclusive and fully representative Multilateral Trading System. We are pleased to contribute towards ensuring the participation of LDCs in the upcoming WTO Ministerial Conference in Buenos Aires.”
Switzerland is the second WTO member to donate to the MC11 LDCs Fund this year and has contributed over CHF 5.6 million to WTO trust funds in 15 years.
