187/ Registration opens for public hearing in “Canada — Measures Governing the Sale of Wine”

5 November 2019

At the request of the parties in the dispute “Canada — Measures Governing the Sale of Wine” (DS537), the panel has decided to open its second substantive meeting to public observation on 3 and 4 December 2019. The live screening will take place at the WTO’s headquarters in Geneva.

The public viewing of the meeting with the parties is expected to start at 10:00 on Tuesday 3 December 2019 and continue at 10:00 on Wednesday 4 December 2019 in Room S2.

The panel reserves the right to close the meeting to public observation at any time, on its own initiative or at the request of either party, if there is a risk of breach of confidentiality or disruption of the meeting.

The public viewing will take place via a closed-circuit television broadcast and will be held in English only. Interpretation will not be available.

The number of places in the room reserved for the public will be allocated on a first-come first‑served basis upon receipt of a completed registration form. Applications will be accepted from 9:00, Geneva time, on Tuesday 5 November 2019 until 17:00, Geneva time, on Friday 29 November 2019.

Colour-coded badges will be required to access the viewing room. WTO delegates will be required to collect their colour-coded badges from the Welcome Pavilion, to be used in conjunction with their regular WTO badge. Members of the public, including journalists, can collect their WTO access badges and colour-coded badges from the Welcome Pavilion, in exchange for a valid photo ID (passport or an official identity card), which may be retrieved after the viewing. If you are a WTO staff member or intern, your regular badge will suffice and no colour-coded badge will be required.

You will be required to pass through a security check before proceeding to Room S2. Members of the public allocated a seat are requested to arrive in good time, as the security check may delay access to the viewing room.

Please note that any form of recording of the presentation is prohibited and that cell phones shall be switched off during the meetings.

The WTO cannot offer any support, including financial, for accommodation, flight arrangements and visas.
