There are many standards that have an immediate application in dealing with and recovering from the pandemic: these are now being joined by a range of new standards developed as a direct response to the challenges of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us all to adapt rapidly to changing circumstances. Find out more about new and upcoming ISO standards that can help establish the right course of action, improving recovery, bolstering resilience, and saving lives.

  • avoid the risk of occupational exposure of courier, and ensure the safety of consumers and courier to achieve assured consumption;

GUIDELINES FOR CONTACTLESS DELIVERY SERVICE

Contactless delivery service makes a substantial contribution to the health and safety of consumers and courier during the epidemic. China published Association Standard T/CCPITCSC 042-2020 “Specification for contactless delivery service” on March 10th, 2020. In addition, SAC (China) approved new project of China National Standard on “Guidelines for contactless delivery service” on April 17th, 2020 by fast-track, the NP number is: 20201841-T-601, SAC (China) will publish this China National Standard in the end of April, 2020.

Many industries around the world need contactless service to reduce risks to everyone associated with a business (employees, customers and partners) and the business itself. This IWA document is just the beginning of contactless methods for high-contact industries such as the delivery, retail and hotel industries.

BUILDING GUIDELINE OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL FACILITY
The guidelines are suitable for emergency medical facilities for respiratory infectious diseases that are newly built and expanded within existing medical institutions and are rapidly constructed using containerized movable boards or steel structures.

The guidelines were applied for Beijing Xiaotangshan Hospital (Beijing’s SARS Hospital), Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital, and more than 10 other respiratory infectious disease hospitals. Effectively preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases, standardizing the design and construction of emergency medical facilities for infectious diseases, and promoting scientific guidance for the prevention and control of respiratory infectious diseases.

GUIDELINES FOR CLOUD KITCHEN SERVICES
Cloud kitchen made a significant contribution to the recovery of traditional catering industry. It provided an important guarantee for the resumption of production during the epidemic. Affected by the epidemic, restaurants suffered huge losses.

Cloud kitchen makes the traditional catering enterprises turn to take out and consequentially reduces the loss of restaurants. Cloud kitchen is more suitable for the fast pace living style and space. This IWA document is one part of catering industries reform and we are convinced that it will make the catering industry better meet consumer’s needs on the time and space of eating. Therefore, this should be an improvement over the current situation, and adoption of cloud kitchen will be more likely to enable us to achieve SDG3 – “Health and Happiness”.

Guidelines for planning recovery and renewal

This proposal aims to address, in the short term, the immediate effects of COVID-19 through robust plans regarding:

  • Restarting basic services.
  • Social lives of the public.
  • Ongoing support to the elderly and most vulnerable.
  • Opening of schools.
  • Return to travel services.
  • Economic recovery of retail and restaurant sectors most greatly hit – Social distancing measures.

The proposal also aims, in the long term, to re-create a society in which long-term international objectives are addressed as well as improving society as a whole. It addresses the societal shortcomings which exacerbated the impact of the pandemic, and:

  • Shortcomings of the strategies when identifying COVID-19 as a risk.
  • Creating a more sustainable society, protecting green spaces, and building infrastructure to keep CO2 emissions down.
  • Establishing greater expenditure on resources in key public sector services – Enhancing the protection of green spaces.
  • Emergency legislation affording housing to homeless people.
  • Establishing other areas for opportunity for building a more sustainable and equitable society.
  • Digital technology to be installed in primary care sectors.
  • Maintaining the levels of volunteering and community activism.

RSP-PH EPR Information System

This International Standard describes the Reference Standards Portfolio of business and health information technology standards for interoperable Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response (RSP PH EP&R). The Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Information System (PHEP&RIS) is a specialized enterprise system designed for the ongoing collection, processing and use of the operational information to inform situation assessment, decision making, and other actions necessary for PH EP&R operations.

In the last decades, the world has undergone rapid changes including demographic explosions and massive urbanization, population movement, increase in international trade and travel, emergence of new pathogens, use of techniques which induce new risks, chemical and nuclear accidents, environmental disasters and introduction of the threat of criminal acts and bioterrorism.

There is a need to respond to this changing environment through the improvement of international and national public health (PH) emergency preparedness and response (EPR) operations that rely on timely, interoperable and sufficient for response information.

Compilation of relevant information

The document will collect and record building-related information from multiple public health emergencies around the world, including recording and investigation of typical cases, emergency measures and guidelines, reflections and researches on improvement of the role of buildings and its facilities, standards and frameworks issued by national and local governments, etc. during and after the public health emergency.

  • In the face of public health emergency, which aspects of various types of buildings do not respond well (negative)? And which aspects can play an affirmative role, such as helping to stop the spread of viruses (or other benefits)?
  • What emergency responses have users of the building made? (Including whether these responses are effective and what are the successful experiences and the reasons of failure?)
  • What emergency guidelines have been issued by local governments? (How effective are these guidelines?)
  • What are the typical building cases that have caused spread of virus? What kind of analysis and judgment does the researcher conduct on their investigation?
  • What timely reflections have users, architects, engineers, researchers, and other interested parties made, and what ideas have been proposed for future changes in buildings? Etc.
