To the deadline date of 31/12/2012, there were nine countries to nominate candidates for the position of General Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Pascal Lamy replacement, will end up CEO tenure WTO on 08/31/2013.

On 28/12/2012, Brazil introduced Roberto Carvalho de Azevedo, the country’s permanent representative to the WTO as a candidate for the Director-General. Mr. Roberto is the final list of candidates for this position.

Previously, Mexico had introduced him Herminio Blanco Mendoza, former Minister of Industry, who led the delegation to negotiate free trade between the U.S. and Canada from 1990-1993.

Costa Rica nominated Foreign Trade Minister Anabel Gonzalez. South Korean Trade Minister introduction is Taeho Bark; New Zealand also introduced the Trade Minister Tim Groser. Jordan introduced the former Minister Ahmad Hindawi Trade. Indonesia nominated Ms. Mari Pangestu, former Minister of Trade, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Ghana, the earliest country to introduce candidates (from 07.01.2012), has chosen Alan Kyerematen, former Minister of Trade and Industry, former ambassador to the U.S., is currently the coordinator of the Center trade policy in Africa at the African Economic Council of the United Nations. Kenya introduced Ms. Amina Mohamed, Assistant Secretary, Deputy Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

At the plenary session of the WTO General Council, scheduled to take place on 29.01.2013 in Geneva, the candidate will be introduced herself before representatives of 158 member countries. Based on the mechanism of consensus, the General Assembly, the highest body of the WTO will choose a new CEO before 05/31/2013. However, if the agency does not agree this is the highest position, WTO will conduct the vote in accordance with the provisions of the WTO.

According to WTO rules, WTO Director-General position is not selected by geographical division that the member countries have to choose worthy candidates, bringing justice to all member countries.

Heavy duty of the new CEO is operating effectively in discussions related to the liberalization of international trade at the WTO Ministerial Conference scheduled to take place January 12/2013 in Bali, Indonesia. /.
