The Canadian Government is contributing CAD 100,000 (approximately CHF 77,000) to help developing and least-developed countries (LDCs) participate in the eleventh WTO Ministerial Conference (MC11), which will take place on 10-13 December 2017 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “I welcome Canada’s generosity. This donation is essential to ensure that the LDCs’ voice is featured prominently in global trade negotiations, thereby helping more people to leverage the opportunities that international trade offers.”
Canadian Ambassador Stephen de Boer said: “Canada is happy to support LDC ministers’ active participation in MC11.  We look forward to working closely with them so that LDC members can better integrate into the multilateral trading system. “
Overall, Canada has donated approximately CHF 12 million to WTO trust funds over the last 15 years.
