On 21/02/2013, Deputy General Director of VNAT Nguyen Manh Cuong chaired a meeting with the expert team Support Office Asia-Pacific region of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)project “silk Road on the sea” (maritime silk road). Attending the meeting were representatives of the International Cooperation Department, Travel, tourism market.

According to experts Kazuo Ichikawa, “Silk Road on the Sea” (Maritime Silk Road) is formed from the late 19th century, a system of maritime trade route from the southern part of the East China to EuropeSouth Asia, India, the Middle East. The maritime routes in the area this time it bustles with boats busiest crossing between the commercial port; humans, goods, cultures were trade and integration.

Regional Support Office wishes to strengthen and confirm the brand name “Silk Road” with project “Silk Road on the Sea”. The goal of the project is to create a large demand for tourism in the Asia-Pacific region, where tourism is developing rapidly. The support of the World Tourism Organization, the project will establish a forum to provide an opportunity to promote tourism exchanges between the participants. On this occasion, the regional support office has invited Vietnam to launch the project team.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy General Director Nguyen Manh Cuong acclaimed expert delegation visited and worked in Vietnam. Deputy Director General appreciated the idea of the project is to add new tours and product diversification cruises and was assigned to the departments of Tourism research, continue to work with expert project “silk Road on the sea”.
