Reportedly, nominated by the national heritage initiative launched , the awards are selected and approved by the international conservation experts from around the world . Prizes are divided into 3 categories : Grand Prize , Excellence Award and the Honorary Award .
About two projects in Vietnam to receive the award , UNESCO said the preservation project of Duong Lam ancient as the successful effort to restore selected 5 houses in Duong Lam village to introduce value indigenous wooden architecture in Vietnam . According to the Vietnam architectural historians and experts from Japan , the ancient village of Duong Lam became a notable model for conservation efforts in other rural areas in Vietnam in the future .
As for restoration projects bunker at the Metropole Hotel , the Unesco said this project has contributed to clarify the mystery of the rich history of the hotel .
