Kitakyushu City has launched the largest-scale habitat Hibikinada Japan, with a collection of animal and plant species richness.
The 41-acre habitat is located in the reclamation area in front beach Habikinada. Kitakyushu City has spent 400 million yen to renovate and maintain the habitat.
The 20-year process, including the disposal of waste and natural marsh created by rain water, turning this area into the wild environment as capital.
In the habitats, Kitakyushu also established a center allows visitors to find out, research on eco-holidays.
Speaking at the ceremony, the market Kitasyushu Kenji Kitahashi said the city is developing in the direction of turning crisis into opportunity, to create a green environment, dreams and efforts of people come true.
Habitat in the Hibikinada have 237 kinds of birds, including endangered species. This habitat will be the new pride of the city of Kitakyushu and the symbol of the slogan “City of the Future”.
The city also organized tours for 100 local citizens on the occasion of the opening of the habitat.
In the ’60s of the 20th century, Kitakyushu been very heavy pollution. Meanwhile, the factory here billowed toxic smoke Guppy, polluted water, killing fish, river water black light like sewage …
