The scientists from the British Geological Survey has launched a virtual 3D gallery first fossils in the world . This is a valuable resource to help the public can access and understand information easily about the fossil record .

This is a valuable resource to help researchers and the public can access and understand information easily about the fossil record , even using 3D printing techniques to print a copy of this pattern .

The British Geological Survey said , with about 20,000 fossil tomography in the library . Dr Mike Howe – the process of monitoring and tomography imaging most of the fossils found in the UK , said: ” There is no agency publicized collection of fossils the great 3D such . Our library is the first place to conduct this work . ”

Michela Contessi technician said , taking the fossil record and uploading to spend a lot of time as well as the patient requires careful and meticulous to detail . He said : ” The number of copies depends on the shape of the fossil record . To record all the details of the complete 3D model of a fossil shell , we had to shoot at least 10 images . ”

The public and researchers can search and download all the free scan using personal computers or phones . According to the team , this is a useful reference source for geologists because they do not have to pay fees to access and view firsthand the original fossils . In the future , the scientists plan to apply this method for samples with larger sizes such as dinosaur bones .
