Cambodia’s garment exports up 22 %

According to the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia ( Cambodia share ) , textile exports of the country has increased 22 % in the past 11 months and is the largest source of foreign exchange earnings for the origin of the temple tower .

From January to March 11/2013 , exports of garments of the Southeast Asian countries reached about 5.07 billion U.S. dollars , up 22 % from $ 4.15 billion last year . During this period , textile exports to the U.S. have increased by 9 % to 1.96 billion dollars , to Europe surged 33 % to 1.81 billion dollars and into other markets increased 31 % to 1.3 billion USD.

Secretary General of the Association of Cambodian textile producers , Ken Loo said the textile exports of the country ‘s strong economic growth has so many possibilities for progress and new plants are put into activities . He said : “We saw that recently , many factories producing new garments were put into operation in Cambodia because of cheap labor costs and regulations on export tax exemptions to market Europe is easing . ”

The textile industry accounts for about 80 % of the total exports of the country , with about 500 factories and 510,000 workers attracted . Cambodia’s garment products are mainly exported to the United States, Europe , Canada ( Canada – Canada ) , Japan , China and other Asian countries .
